Geek Cast Live S3E6: Wipe you Shoes At The Door And Don’t Look At The Statue That Must Not Be Seen

image

The week the Geek Cast crew take plenty of booster blue, and get someone’s ducks in a column. We kick off this weeks episode with Rob Bass’ Do Review on “Welcome to Night Vale.” The crew then discuss their Baker’s Rushmore of Oscars, in honor of the Oscars. A certain friend of the podcast may cringe for a few moments. Several moments, actually. Then in our main segment we discuss the latest in Marvel cinematic experiences, Deadpool. What an experience it was. Hey, Mr. Ryan Van Wilder, should you read this, and we will know if you do, we’d love for you for be on the show. K thanx bai!

  1. GCHomies….

    My Oscar list:
    5) the Grouch
    4) the Grouch
    3) the Grouch
    2) Madison
    1) the Grouch

I know the Grouch was said and not everyone is down with the Odd Couple, but I love ’em both. 🙂

Night Vale…..nice recommendation. I’ve heard it repped on the Slate Culture Podcast, but the dude that recommended it spews shite for his recs most times, so I dismissed it. I like your guys’ description of it. Mamma Gomez raised me on Twilight Zone and Twin Peaks so it sounds like this is right up my alley. I’ll definitely be checking it on my train rides now.

    Other podcasts I’m geekin’ on:

WTF! w/MarcMaron (used to love this, then didn’t, it’s better now that he’s a bit more successful. It cuts down on his self-loathing, pitiful bitterness, let’s therapy-analyze every single fucking thing schtick)

You Must Remember This (some of these are great for truly great old Hollywood stories, some are boring as balls)

Hardcore History w/DanCarlin (this dude’s pretty great…start with the Khans series then branch out)

Robbie….if your down with Twilight Zone, you should check out Black Mirror, if you haven’t already. Some eps are weaker than others, but overall it’s pretty dope. It’s on Netflix.

Nico….check out Homeland, if ya haven’t already. You get to see more of Morena Baccarin…..aLOT more. She’s definitely fine like wine.

I’ve really got nothing more on Deadpool that hasn’t already been said. I’m disappointed RyRen didn’t bust out any deep-cut digs about Two Guys, A Girl, A Pizza Shop and a Terrible Laugh Track.

Great ep, fellas…sounds like you guys (Ry and RB) were pretty lit up. Fun! 🙂

    1. I’ve never watched a second of Homeland, but discovered the wife loves it (and at least willing to listen to the idea of Morena Baccarin as an “option”). So score. I’m diving into some Harcore History as well…good call.

  2. Great show, fellas. This was my first dip of the toe in GCL waters… not sure why I waited so long, but I’m sold.

    My Oscar list:

    1. Isaac
    2. Robertson
    3. Mayer
    4. Pistorius
    5. Niemeyer

GCR, your joke Oscar pick (i.e. that awards show) of Spotlight was right on and, of course, I liked your mention of wanting Fury Road to win. Did you like Mad Max? I can’t remember if you ever actually talked about it on MPW.

    1. Dino,

Welcome my man, and thanks for crossing over from MPW to the dark side. Nice Oscar list. And yes, GCRy wasted all his stored up soothsayer points for 2016 to hit on that Spotlight call. Fury Road had a pretty good night though. It doesn’t suck to be Tom Hardy. Hope to hear more from you in the weeks to come…

    2. Dino!!!!….awesome to see ya over here, homie. It gets lonely over here, at times. There’s plenty of merit and things to comment on by these knuckle-heads. 🙂
